Dear friends,

Dan left us this morning at 6:00am . He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His strength, dignity and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Meet the Family!

For those of you who have never met the “Fruitcake Lady,” she is one of our distant relatives on the Hendrix branch of our family. Marie Rudisill is author Truman Capote’s aunt who found fame late in life when she made an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Mel Gibson. The first appearance led to many repeat visits in recent years. I actually met Marie and interviewed her on tape a few years ago. Sadly, she died earlier this year. I’ll write more about her later, but I couldn’t resist posting this video clip so the world could meet the most famous member of my family . . . .
